#2 Shows the real time preview image.

#3 Move the slider control to the right to increase the "sharpening" factor. Start with the lowest setting and work up if you decide to use sharpening. Too much sharpening and the image will look worse.

Sharpening/focus and Unsharp mask do not really sharpen or focus an image. Rather they can trick the eye into making it look that way by adjusting contrast between certain areas of the image.

The Unsharp Mask effect is more subtle than the sharpen/focus effect. I often prefer to use the unsharp mask effect because the results usually look better. Sometimes a small amount of sharpen from the Sharp effect and then a small amount of unsharp effect work well together. It is difficult to recommend a setting because of the way that the effect is applied. You may not see much difference on some types of images, especially where there are few sharp color differences between adjacent areas of the image. Experiment and see what you like. Always start with a little and increase the effect until you get a little past what you think looks good then lower the value back down a notch. If all your images tend to be very similar, then you can preset the values and will most often be satisfied with the results.
